The University Libraries at Virginia Tech is happy to announce a donor appreciation night in the Carol M. Newman Library on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 5:30 – 8 p.m. “We are excited to showcase a variety of new spaces in the library while highlighting some of our signature programs and services to an audience that has chosen to include the library in their philanthropic support for Virginia Tech,” says Tyler Walters, Dean of the University Libraries.
This event will feature two new library studios: the 3D Design Studio, a print lab that helps individuals learn about 3D printing technology, and the Virtual Environments Studio, a small black box theater that explores virtual worlds. The open house will be a fun, family friendly way to spend a Friday evening in Blacksburg prior to the Hokies final home game. It will be a chance to explore the spaces and programs that enhance the academic experience on campus.
During the evening, a special presentation will delve into American cocktail history as discovered through an archivists’ research in the History of Food and Drink Collection, which is housed in Special Collections.
“We want our donors to see what they have helped create,” Walters emphasizes, “to learn how these spaces and programs support the teaching and learning on campus, and most importantly, to know that we appreciate their consistent support.”
