Events: Faculty authors to be recognized Feb 24, 2009

EventsThe University Libraries, in partnership with the Provost's Office and the Office of the Vice President for Research is co-sponsoring and coordinating the fourth annual Virginia Tech Authors Day to acknowledge and honor their academic contributions to the university. The occasion will be marked by an introduction of the authors, a display of a number of representative books, and a short program to be followed by a reception. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at 4:30pm in Newman Library.

Events: Library participating in Gobberfest on 9/5

EventsThe University Libraries will be participating in this Friday's Gobblerfest taking place on the Library Plaza, College Avenue and by the Graduate Life Center. The library will have photo cut-outs taken from the historical Virginia Tech images online. Please visit our booth from 11am to 6pm.

Events: Three exhibitions from the Prevail Archives of the University Libraries

Three exhibitions will feature materials from the Virginia Tech April 16, 2007, Prevail Archives of the University Libraries. "Remembrance, Recognition, and Healing," the exhibition at the Perspective Gallery in Squires Student Center, is composed of documentary photographs taken by the community along with items from the Prevail Archives such as signed hats from the Washington Nationals and a beautiful set of hand decorated eggs for each victim. The show runs April 5 - 20, 2008, with the opening reception on April 8 from 4-6. Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The exhibition is curated by Mary Tartaro, Perspective Gallery Art Director.

We thank faculty authors for submitting their monograph publications to the University Libraries. These publications have been procured or are in the process of being procured. To highlight the significance of faculty publications as a contribution to scholarship at Virginia Tech, The University Libraries, in partnership with the Provost's Office and the Office of the Vice President for Researchhosts an annual Faculty Authors Recognition event. Everyone is cordially invited to participate in this years event, scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2008, on the second floor of Newman Library. There will be an exhibit of available publications (some are already out on loan to library users).
