Construction has begun on the first floor study cafe in Newman Library, in the former lobby space outside Special Collections. Noise and dust should be expected in that area for the next several weeks. The entrance to Special Collections has been temporarily moved across from Interlibrary Loan, in the space formerly occupied by the Circulation desk.
The doors at the top of the ramp leading from the cafe space to the first floor hallway are closed to minimize noise. Patrons in wheelchairs will not be able to open the doors from the lobby side on the ramp. These patrons should make use of one of the other two elevators that lead to the first floor (see map).
When an opening date for the study cafe is set, it will be announced here.
